My Experience

Melbourne is undoubtedly one of those cities that I would consider as my lifelong home. It’s difficult to put into words why this city has such a profound impact on me, but its distinctiveness is truly remarkable. Without a doubt, Melbourne is a destination that should be on everyone’s bucket list. Melbourne welcomes you with an exhilarating atmosphere that is impossible to overlook. This vibrant city is famous for its street art, lively markets and energetic street entertainers. As you explore through the iconic laneways, you’ll discover a plethora of unique shops, delightful cafes and tempting restaurants, setting the stage for a day full of discovery and excitement.

Must-See Places

Docklands Shopping

Melbourne’s waterfront precinct is a fantastic option to kick-start your adventure, as it houses the renowned district docklands shopping centre. There are more than 180 retail stores that offer a wide range of shops including fashion, homeware, leisure and dining options to keep you entertained for hours. Moreover, you can delve into the captivating docklands public art scene which showcases 36 outdoor artworks scattered across parks and promenades within this vicinity.

Sports

When it comes to events, Melbourne is the ultimate destination for sports enthusiasts. Melbourne hosts one of the biggest tennis tournaments in the world, the Australian Open, every January at the renowned Rod Laver Arena. Attending this popular event guarantees an exhilarating experience filled with excitement, adrenaline and will certainly keep you on the edge of your seat. Alternatively, if you visit any other time of the year, you can still have the opportunity to take a guided tour, showing you its unique history. The next gem is the Melbourne Cricket Ground, also known as the MCG. This world famous venue hosts a variety of sports each year such as cricket, AFL and rugby and even music concerts. You have an excellent chance to embark on a guided tour of the premises, granting you access to exclusive areas that are off-limits to the general public. The guided tour tickets can begin at $33 AUD per person and the duration can vary between 70-80 minutes depending on the specific tour you choose. Additionally, you can choose to visit the Australian Sports museum for an added experience.

Sky Deck

When it comes to excitement, nothing will prepare you for the incredible views that the Melbourne Sky deck has to offer. As the highest observation deck in the southern hemisphere, it offers unparalleled views from a staggering height of 300m above ground level. There are several ways to reach the top and enjoy the breath-taking views. You can choose the standard sky deck admission, reserve a spot at Bar 88 for a more immersive experience or even consider the enchanting proposal option to create everlasting memories. To enjoy discounted pricing starting at $28 AUD per person, make a booking online. This offer remains valid for 6 months from the date of booking.

Phillip Island

A little further afield is a day trip to Phillip Island. Here you can enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience seeing penguins in their nature habitat. In addition to that, you also have the opportunity to spot various wildlife at the Koala Wildlife Nature Park. This amazing park is situated approximately 90 minutes away from Melbourne and can be reached by either car or ferry depending on your preferred mode of transportation. Like most things in Melbourne, I can suggest a guided tour to make the journey easier. This excellent tour lasted for approximately 8-9 hours and included convenient transportation, entrance tickets and insightful commentary from experts, ensuring an unforgettable experience for you.

City Circle Tram

One of the many things that truly fascinated me is the city circle tram. Not only does it provide free transportation around the city centre, but it offers a delightful way for residents and visitors to explore the countless attractions and events that Melbourne has in store.

Yarra River Cruise

Another great way to explore the city is from the water on a city boat cruise. Embark on a journey along the Yarra River spanning an impressive 242km. As you cruise down the river, you‘ll be treated to views of famous landmarks like the Government House and Docklands Crown Entertainment Complex. If Melbourne graces you with a sunny day, seize the opportunity to relax in the rays on the sun deck. The starting price for this experience is around $60 AUD per person and typically lasts for approximately 120 minutes. It’s the perfect opportunity to create unforgettable memories during your travel escapades and make your journey even more amazing.

Melbourne is also a great base for exploring the rest of Victoria. Embark on a day excursion that could encompass a visit to Mornington Peninsula, where you can indulge in beachside bliss, exploring charming wineries and partake in thrilling outdoor adventures. If you’re in need of a day filled with rest and relaxation, don’t think twice about visiting Peninsula Hot Springs, located approximately 2 hour and 20 minutes away from Melbourne. If you prefer to have someone else handle all the arrangements for you blissful day, consider booking a guided tour that will take care of transportation so you can enjoy a day of pure relaxation.
