My second home for 5 years, England blends rich history with modern culture, from London's iconic landmarks to world-class entertainment and festivals.
It's hard to know where to start, as the United Kingdom has truly become my second home. After living here for around five years, I've built a life filled with new friends, unforgettable experiences, and a deep connection to this place. While New Zealand will always hold the number one spot in my heart, the UK has carved out a special space of its own. England, in particular, has left me inspired with its history, charming villages, and dynamic cities. There's so much to explore that I could go on forever, but I've narrowed it down to my top favourite spots. These are the places that captivated me, and I hope they'll inspire you to plan your own journey to experience the magic of this incredible country.
A trip to London wouldn't be complete without experiencing a West End show, a world-renowned theatre district that's the beating heart of London's live entertainment scene. The West End boasts a wide range of performances, from timeless musicals like The Phantom of the Opera and Les Misérables to modern hits like Hamilton and The Lion King. These productions are known for their stunning choreography, captivating storytelling, and high-quality performances, making them an unforgettable part of any London visit. Booking tickets in advance is highly recommended. A great way to end a day of sightseeing!
A visit to the Tower of London is a top attraction you can't miss when in London. With over 1,000 years of history, this iconic landmark has served as a royal palace, prison, and treasury. If you time your visit right, you may have the chance to witness the Changing of the Guard at the Tower of London. Check the Changing of the Guard schedule in advance as it's not held daily.
The London Eye is a must-visit when you're on holiday in London. This iconic Ferris wheel offers breathtaking views of the city skyline, including landmarks like Big Ben and St. Paul's Cathedral. A ride takes about thirty minutes, giving you plenty of time to soak in the sights and capture stunning photos. It's a perfect blend of adventure and sightseeing, making it an unforgettable highlight of your trip. Book in advance for preferred time slots. Great for photos!
